The visibility that characterizes the world of fashion manifests itself in different ways involving stylists and star systems of the show. On the other hand, this – like so many others – is a necessary combination, if only to give prominence to a brand or a garment so that it becomes trendy. The 2021/2022 fashion weeks lie along this commercial line, essential appointments for the great world tailoring that offers its innovative collections, influencing the combinations of both men’s and women’s clothing. In short, fundamental steps to dictate the trends of the moment and acquire a certain notoriety in the sector.
What is Fashion Week?
As mentioned above, the fashion week is an event of the fashion industry that allows designers and fashion houses to present their latest collections. Although geographically speaking, they touch every corner of the globe, the fashion weeks par excellence take place in the so-called big four, namely Milan, Paris, New York and London. The first ever was held, precisely, in the Big Apple in 1943; and from that moment on, there has been an evolution in this sense capable of giving considerable media coverage to the whole thanks to the collaborations of singers, actors and performers of a certain level.
Paris Fashion Week 2021/2022: stars and celebrities along the Seine
Paris fashion week is known for being much more spectacular than other international shows. The relative organization of the event touches the rich halls, the historic buildings of the city and those of the suburbs. Just think of the Accor Arena stadium, a location that Alexander McQueen adores madly. The editions of the first part of 2021 – focused on exhibitions for autumn / winter men’s and women’s fashion – saw the participation of established brands such as Chanel and Coperni. But there was no lack of sensational debuts, such as that of Gabriela Hearst at Chloè. And between one show and another, stars of the caliber of Monica Bellucci, Bella Hadid and Jessica Chastain appeared.
The dates of the next editions
As for the calendar of the next editions of Paris Fashion Week 2021/2022, the upcoming dates affect the spring / summer women’s collection of the coming year; and everything will take place from 27 September to 5 October 2021. Next year, however, we will follow this schedule: 18 January-23 January 2022 for autumn / winter men’s fashion; 24 January-27 January 2022 for haute couture; February 28-March 8 2022 for women’s collections. For the spring / summer samples, the following dates must be awaited (which may be subject to change): 21 June-26 June 2022; 3 July-7 July 2022; September 26-October 4, 2022.
Milan Fashion Week 2021/2022: a gradual return to normality
Milan Fashion Week is one of the flagships of a tricolor tradition that has made the fortunes of a versatile and ever-evolving universe. And being able to organize the usual events dedicated to high fashion was a gradual return to normal after the hardships (of any kind) caused by the anti-coronavirus restrictions. The event that took place from 18 to 22 June 2021 for the men’s spring / summer 2022 collection is a shining example. Dolce & Gabbana, Etro and Giorgio Armani have embellished, with their fashion shows, a hybrid exhibition characterized, among other things, by the presentation of the first allgender collection by Diesel.
The next dates of the Milan event
From 21 to 27 September 2021 there will be the annual edition of the Women’s Collection Spring / Summer 2022. 61 fashion shows are planned, with 42 in attendance and the rest in digital version. Of note, the return of Roberto Cavalli, Moncler and Boss; while, for the first time, the MM6 Maison Margiela, Luisa Spagnoli, HUI and Vitelli brands will make their appearance. Unmissable, then, the catwalk reserved for the Milano Moda Graduate, an event that enhances the skills of aspiring stylists from the best Italian fashion schools. And for the 2022 appointments, the relative dates have not yet been formalized.
London Fashion Week 2021/2022: the boom of digital innovation
The appointments of the 2021/2022 fashion weeks of the London metropolis are based on a tradition of over thirty years. And their avant-garde approach – revealed in 2010 as the first world fashion event to fully use digital mass media – annually attracts 5,000 journalists and buyers of all kinds. The most recent edition, which took place from 12 to 14 June 2021, saw massive use of the event’s telematic platform; a real boom in some ways necessary to also respect the parameters imposed by social distancing. And which, in any case, has given emphasis to trendy brands such as Azura Lovisa and Bethany Williams.
The new dates of the British review
The next dates of London Fashion Week spring / summer 2022 concern the period from 17 to 21 September 2021. And also on this occasion, multimedia and social applications will dominate, with a wide window of appointments based on the dizzying rise of TikTok . The fashion shows of brands and designers such as Roberta Einer, Bora Aksu and Helen Anthony will enhance the British stage by dictating new trends for men and women. For the 2022 appointments, we still have to wait for the roadmap to be made official. Data that will arrive as soon as possible and that should respect the canonical ranges of twice a year.
New York Fashion Week 2021/2022: space for indie designers
The quadrilateral of fashion weeks capable of representing the excellence of the glamor scene also includes New York. And it could not be otherwise, given that it has given way to a worldly event that rewards style and the desire to dare. Celebrities, journalists and couturiers from all over the world attend, by invitation, the Lincoln Center of Performing Arts to further raise the level of an event that, today, gives enormous space to indie designers.
Guests of the next edition of New York Fashion Week
The next edition for the spring / summer 2022 collection of the New York fashion week (scheduled from 7 to 12 September 2021) will follow, in fact, the aforementioned, transforming itself into a showcase for emerging designers such as Christian Siriano. For established brands, however, there will be regulars such as Tom Ford, Moschino, Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta. Guests announced for the MET Gala 2022 will be Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka; no news, however, for the dates of 2022.
